Mild West and East Coast’s Juice
Chicago indie-pop rockers The Mild West have been following Boston’s jazzy rock band Juice around on tour to Cincinnati and Detroit. But this weekend they get to show the East Coasters what Chicago shows are all about when they play Lincoln Hall, joined by California electro-pop duo PRXZM, for a high-energy Saturday night show.

Future Stars
This weekend, Nellie’s in Palatine launches Future Stars, a monthly musical event giving up-and-coming musicians the opportunity to share their talents on the main stage. From 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, Voo Doo Dolls (with Ethan) and Kung Fu Sleepover will play the family-friendly event. Take advantage of food and drink specials to go along with the show. The recurring event is also looking for acts for future performances, so high-school-aged and younger musicians should submit a demo to info@durtynellies.com.

Dave Gomez benefit
On Sunday, Bottom Lounge hosts Celebration: A Punk Rock Cancer Benefit Show, bringing together musicians to raise money for medical expenses for Dave Gomez, a longtime Chicago scene supporter and singer/guitarist for South Suburban pop-punk band Summer Curse. The benefit show will feature full-band and acoustic performances by city and suburban acts Dude Pants, Action/Adventure, Summer Curse, Guardrail, Rare Candy, Drew Neely, Cliffhanger, Bad Planning, Lexi Alvarado and Michaela Burkland. Support a scene friend and catch some great tunes: Sounds like a great Sunday afternoon to me!

Phillip-Michael Scales LP debut
Those lucky enough to see dive-bar soul singer Phillip-Michael Scales belting out his favorites live the last few years will recognize maybe a third of the songs off his upcoming debut LP “Sinner-Songwriter.” But the 14-track release, due out Friday, Oct. 29, is packed with winners — from the steamy recent single “Your Love’s Working Me To The Bone” back to his gratitude-laced “O Hallelujah” and the jaw-droppingly powerful “Tell Me How I Sound Again.” Active on the Chicago scene for years before moving to Nashville in 2019, Scales is heading back for a hometown show Wednesday to preview the release.

A Light Divided in West Chicago
North Carolina’s A Light Divided headlines a night heavy with talent as they’re joined on their tour stop by Southern Wisconsin hard rock band The Almas, The Silhouet and Chicago-area metal band Bachelor’s Grove. The show, set at The WC Social Club in West Chicago, shows yet again why the venue is becoming a suburban outpost for hard-core rock and metal acts.
